A regenerative medicine researcher from The University of Queensland's Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), has been celebrated for enhancing the potential of this growing field within life sciences.

Associate Professor Ernst Wolvetang has received the Aon Risk Solutions Regenerative Medicine Award from Life Sciences Queensland Limited (LSQ).

LSQ presented four awards at its annual ‘Globally Engaging Networking Event (GENE)’ on Friday 17 October, to recognise and celebrate individuals who have contributed significantly to the establishment and growth of the Queensland life sciences industry.

“Associate Professor Ernst Wolvetang, received the Aon Risk Solutions Regenerative Medicine Award, for his initiative, dedication and leadership in the area of regenerative medicine, particularly as a pioneer in stem cell research,” LSQ CEO Mr Mario Pennisi said.

In receiving his award, Ernst made a point of acknowledging all the people he works with at AIBN, who make his work possible, and said that the award was just as much for them as it was for himself.

He further congratulated Aon in supporting this exciting area of research and pointed out the great opportunities for Queensland to take the lead in regenerative medicine through effective multi-institutional collaborations and support of the emerging regenerative medicine industry.

Along with the recognition of these individuals, GENE provided the opportunity for life sciences industry leaders, elected officials and other interested stakeholders to come together for an evening of networking and celebration of the industry’s achievements.
